Terry Pratchett Was NOT a TERF

Hi there, readers! I’m back again and this is going to be a very brief discussion. Recently, I’ve noticed some discussion on Twitter about Terry Pratchett because some nonsensical bigots decided to declare him as a TERF like them. He was not.
I have never read any of his work and I know he’s not. We’re talking about a man who pushed progressive ideology into his writing about as much as Neil Gaiman—whom he worked with—did. He was so progressively minded that the very notion that such people as TERFs could think he was one of them is ludicrous, laughable, and downright l-insane. (Sorry, I couldn’t think of more L-words to keep the alliteration ball rolling).
Then, as if these preposterous allegations weren’t enough, when Terry Pratchett’s own daughter went on Twitter to call bullshit on these accusations, the TERFs came out and said she didn’t know her own father.
…
What. The. FUCK?! Like, Terry Pratchett has been quoted in the past regarding his daughter as someone who knows his mind very well and even if he hadn’t, to say that the man’s flesh and blood daughter whom I believe he raised, didn’t know him well enough to speak on his views of transgender people is not only ridiculous but downright arrogant and presumptuous. These TERFs are trying to argue they know Mr. Pratchett better than people who actually knew him on a personal level, disregarding everything. Disregarding the words of people who knew and understood him. Disregarding his multitude of other beliefs that would suggest he didn’t fall in-line with their ideology. Disregarding his work even with many people on Twitter having screenshotted snippets of his writing to prove he did not believe what these trolls are trying to argue he believed.
It drives me up a wall to know that a man with such great ideals and positive beliefs could have his entire character torn down like this years following his death. The arrogance, the hostility, the—the everything surrounding this kind of behavior for them to presume they know him better and to maliciously spout such harmful and nonsensical accusations is just absolutely heinous.
I’m sorry I had nothing more to say on this topic. I would’ve loved to go more in-depth but as I have yet to read any of his work and it takes me a month to finish a single book, I didn’t want to wait to post this until this controversy was already a month old. That’s all for now. Peace out, readers!
You’ve yet to read any of his works? Oh boy then there are fun times ahead of you. He’s my favourite author of all time. Sad to see that his name is being associated with these terms.
A part of me wants to read him just because he seems like a cool dude but knowing Discworld exists on the back of a turtle gives me the impression his work is a tad too weird for even my tastes. And yeah, it is sad to see his name associated with such terms.
